Former Sen. John Edwards is denying a report that he used the services of a call girl employed by accused Soccer Mom Madam Anna Gristina while he was running for President.

The woman told investigators that Edwards paid her for sex during a 2007 visit to New York to raise money for his failed White House bid, DNAinfo reported Thursday.

One of Edwards’ attorneys issued a strongly worded statement denying the allegation.

Apparently Andrew Young, John Edwards' former aide who once claimed Rielle Hunter's baby as his own, is that disappointed and angry with his former boss. Young last week sold his book to St. Martin's press, which promptly leaked his proposal to drum up publicity for the forthcoming tome. For anyone who thought Elizabeth Edwards' book was harsh, below is a juicy bit quoted today by the New York Times where John Edwards is begging Young to claim the child as his own:

“‘You know how much I love you,' Edwards said. ‘You know I'd walk off a cliff for you, and I know you'd walk off a cliff for me,' ” Mr. Young wrote in the book proposal. “‘I will never forget this. And I will always be there for you.'”

The news that federal prosecutors are investigating John Edwards' presidential campaign payments to his mistress brings a sense of satisfaction. The phoniest man in American politics is finally getting the comeuppance he so richly deserves.

With his $400 haircuts and investments in predatory lenders, all while saying ending poverty was a "moral issue" and the "cause of my life," Edwards set new standards for hypocrisy as he sought the Democratic nomination. His contrived compassion was a joke among rivals.

Did the presidential campaign of John Edwards pay Rielle Hunter to keep quiet about her affair with the former North Carolina senator?

That's what federal investigators are looking into.

Former Sen. Edwards confirmed to the Associated Press that feds are looking into his campaign funds.

The Charlotte Observer first reported that U.S. Attorney George Holding is conducting an investigation of the 2008 Edwards presidential campaign, looking for a cover up and or improper use of funds from campaign donors, and a federal grand jury could consider evidence, the Observer reports.

After the former presidential hopeful confessed his betrayal, Elizabeth Edwards writes in her new book, "I cried and screamed, I went to the bathroom and threw up."

Elizabeth, 59, who is terminally ill with cancer, speaks in far more detail than before about her husband's infidelity in her new memoir, "Resilience," due to be published May 12 by Broadway Books. A copy was obtained by the Daily News.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Former U.S. Sen. John Edwards took another tentative step into the public spotlight Tuesday, speaking at Brown University about extreme poverty around the world and urging Americans to get involved in what he called a "fundamental moral issue."

Edwards, a two-time candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination, has struggled to get his message heard since a scandal about an affair he had with a former campaign staffer enveloped his personal life.

During 30 minutes of questions following Tuesday night's speech, just one person in the audience of nearly 600 came close to asking about the affair.
